The Department of Political Science aims at equipping students with in-depth knowledge and intellectual tools to engage with the global and India-specific issues and challenges arising in the arenas of politics, political processes and political ideas. The Political Science Department envisions a world where the transformative power of political knowledge fosters informed citizenship, advances global understanding, and inspires leaders committed to justice, equality, and effective governance. It aims to provide them with learning experiences and theoretical deftness that prepare them to understand sociology-political phenomena in all their dimensions, which is comparative and context-sensitive. Through different pedagogical methods, the Department seeks to enhance students’ subject specific knowledge along with their ability to think critically. Mission 1. Educate Informed Citizens: Equip students with a comprehensive understanding of political systems, theories, and processes to empower them as informed and responsible global citizens. To prepare adequately competent students who understand and apply concepts, theories, and methodologies from different sub fields of Political Science to make sense of the world around them.
Mission 2. Advance Scholarship: Foster cutting-edge research and intellectual curiosity among faculty and students, contributing to the body of political knowledge and addressing contemporary challenges.
Mission 3. Promote Diversity and Inclusion: Cultivate an inclusive learning environment that values diverse perspectives, experiences, and ideas, preparing students to navigate the complexities of a multicultural world.
