Minutes of the meeting:

  •  The meeting commenced with a prayer.
  •  Fr. Josekutty P.D., Principal of the college welcomed the chairperson and the members of the committee and outlined the importance of the committee.
  •  The new members and the student council representatives introduced themselves.

s The chairperson thanked the Principal for instituting the committee under the new name ‘Committee for Prevention of Sexual Harassment’ and gave the introductory remarks.

  •  General instructions were given by the chairperson to maintain and promote an atmosphere that ensures gender equality and a safe campus.

9 The procedure for reporting and redressal of grievances of students/staff concerning sexual harassment was elaborated by the chairperson.

  •  Ms. Shilpa Rao proposed to organize an orientation session for the girl students to familiarize them with the Committee for Prevention of Sexual Harassment and its functions.
  •  The roles and responsibilities of the faculty members to create awareness of the safety of girl students on the campus v/ere discussed by the members. The chairperson asked the faculty to be vigilant against any form of disturbing behaviour in the college.
  •  The Chairperson briefed the attendees about the availability of the in-house counsellor Dr. Alice Aloysius and that the students may avail the services. It was decided to conduct a counseling session on September 3rdand 4th 2015.
  •  Chairperson concluded the meeting by requesting the faculty members to do their best to uphold the Jayantian culture.

  1.  To discuss measures taken based on the previous meeting held on 03/08/2015.
  2.  Review of the counselling session.

Action Taken (based on previous meeting):

  1.  Counselling session was organized for student batches on September 3rdand 4th 2015.
  2.  Circular about the safety of girl students was displayed on the college notice board.
  3.  Orientation and awareness sessions on prevention of sexual harassment were organised.

Chairperson briefed the members on the conduct of an awareness programme on Gender sensitization conducted on September 23, 2015, for students and invited suggestions from members.

The orientation for the girl students to familiarize them with the Committee for Prevention of Sexual Harassment and its functions was reviewed by the members.

Ms. Shilpa proposed to conduct the second session on Gender sensitization on December 9, 2015, in collaboration with the women empowerment cell. This was agreed upon by the chairperson and the members

The guidelines to be followed in case of a breach in conduct were discussed by the members. The Chairperson suggested preparing parameters for the same. The responsibility was assigned to Ms. Shilpa Rao and Ms. Ramya B.

  • The members stated that no incidence of sexual harassment        was         recorded.
  •  The Chairperson appreciated the efforts of Ms. Annie for successfully coordinating the session on self-defense that was conducted on September 8, 2017, and remarked that it was much appreciated and useful for the students.
  •  Ms Annie Stephen conveyed to the committee that the students requested to initiate Taekwondo and Karate training on the campus.
  •  A session on ‘Gender bias and discrimination’ was planned for December 7, 2017. Ms. Ramya volunteered to coordinate.
  •  The Chairperson requested Ms. Ramya to arrange for the dissemination of information about the committee and its functions to the student community during Shubh Aarambh the official Orientation programme for students at the beginning of the academic year.
