  1. Grievance Redressal Policy
    1. Preamble

Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous, Bengaluru aims to provide a safe, secure, healthy and supportive environment for the holistic growth of the individual. The grievance redressal policy has been formulated according to UGC Grievance Redressal Regulations, 2012 and lays down the norms to be followed for a just, speedy and fair redressal of grievances related to academics, administration and infrastructure. All the members of the institution (Management, Teachers, Staff and Students) shall adhere, follow and promote the policy and guidelines stated herein and uphold human values and ethics.

  1.  Objectives
    1.  To provide an environment where grievances are expressed without fear or victimisation
    1.  To maintain a clear, well-defined and structured process of grievance redressal
    1.  To stipulate the roles and responsibilities of grievance redressal committee
    1.  To ensure a fair and speedy redressal of grievances
    1.  Definitions
      1.  Grievance

Grievance is an allegation or a complaint for actual or perceived wrongs. Grievance includes the definition in UGC Regulations under clause 2(1) of the Gazette Notification No. 14- 4/2012 (CPP-II) dated December, 2012 and shall comprise the following:

    1.  Provision of educational, co-curricular and extension opportunities

    1.  Access to facilities: library, laboratories, sports and cultural facilities, hostel, gymnasium and cafeteria
    1. Grievance Redressal Committee

Grievance Redressal Committee is constituted by the college to receive, investigate and redress grievances. The term of the office for a grievance redressal committee member shall be of two- years duration and renomination, if required. The composition of the grievance redressal committee shall be as follows:

  1.  Principal – Chairperson
  2.  Vice Principal
  3.  Financial Administrator
  4.  Senior faculty nominees – Members
  5.  Faculty nominee – Secretary

The committee shall:

  1.  follow the rules and regulations of the institution and the principles of natural justice during enquiry and redressal of grievances
  2.  formulate and review grievance redressal norms and guidelines
  3.  make efforts to resolve the grievance within a period of 15 days
  4.  submit grievance redressal report to the Principal
  5.  provide a copy of the report to the aggrieved person(s)
  6.  meet bi-annually or as and when required
  7. Grievance Redressal Mechanism
  8.  Information regarding the grievance redressal committee shall be given on the college website and college handbook.
  9.  In case of individual grievance, an aggrieved student shall present his/her grievance in writing, to the Grievance Redressal Committee.
  10.  The prescribed Grievance Redressal Form has to be used by the aggrieved to express the grievance. The form may be submitted to any member of the Grievance Redressal Committee/Head of the Department/Members of the Management or may be dropped in the suggestion box.
  11.  Grievances can also be submitted online through institutional ERP or e-mailed to grievance redressafd kristuiavanti.com
  12.  The matter shall be taken for discussion by the committee in its scheduled meeting.
  13.  If the matter requires urgent attention, the co-ordinator shall inform the chairman and convene a meeting of the committee within two days from the receipt of the grievance form.
  14.  Based on the decision taken by the committee, the aggrieved has to be informed and the grievance shall be resolved.
  15.  If unsatisfied with the decision, the aggrieved can appeal to the Principal within ten days.
  16.  A special meeting may be convened in case follow-up is required.

  1. Anti-ragging Policy
    1. Preamble

Kristu Jayanti College observes zero tolerance towards ragging, discriminatory behaviour

and any form of inconvenience to fellow students. Ragging is strictly prohibited and is a

criminal offence as per Karnataka Educational Act 1983 and the Honourable Supreme Court of India. The institution abides by the guidelines of the Government and has implemented the 0‘Curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (third amendment), Regulations, 2016’ of the UGC to prevent any form of ragging in the campus, neighbourhood and hostels.

    1. Scope

The policy and guidelines are applicable to all the students and research scholars enrolled for the academic programmes at Kristu Jayanti College, Autonomous.

  1. Anti-ragging Committee

An exclusive Anti-ragging Committee shall be set up by the college to monitor the compliance to UGC and Government regulations on curbing the menace of ragging. The composition of the committee shall be as follows:

  1.  Principal
  2.  Vice Principal
  3.  Financial Administrator
  4.  Deans
  5.  Senior faculty members
  6. Hostel wardens
    1.  Roles and responsibilities
      1.  Dissemination of information regarding ragging and its consequences through various orientation and sensitisation programmes
      1.  Constitution of an anti-ragging squad to monitor the campus, hostels, cafeteria and neighbourhood
      1.  Implementation of pre-emptive measures to prevent ragging
      1.  Publicising the consequences of ragging through circulars and through the handbook
      1.  Organisation of orientation programmes to sensitise student community on anti-ragging
      1.  Redressal of complaints pertaining to ragging and related inconveniences
    1.  Definitions
      1.  Ragging: Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (Fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background.
      1.  Zero Tolerance: An act of ragging, major or minor, shall not go unnoticed and any person indulging in ragging shall not go unpunished.
      1.  Complainant: Student or research scholar enrolled in the institution or parent/guardian of the aggrieved.
    1. Complaint process
      1.  A written complaint shall be submitted to any of the Anti-ragging committee member/Management authorities.
      1.  Complaints shall also be made online through the college website.
      1.  The anti-ragging committee shall conduct a thorough unbiased enquiry and submit the report to the Principal within seven working days.
      1.  If any student/research scholar/alumni is found guilty of ragging after enquiry, the action shall be taken by the Principal and Chairman of the committee.
    1. Penalty for Acts of Ragging

Penalties for an act of ragging/abetment of ragging shall be:

  1. Withdrawal of scholarship
    1.  Debarment from examinations
    1.  Expulsion from the hostel
    1.  Expulsion from the institution
    1.  Prosecution for criminal action
