Founders’ Day Celebration 2023-24

On January 16th, 2023, Universal Group of Institutions celebrated its Founders Day with a day-long event filled with activities and festivities. The day was dedicated to honor the vision and legacy of the organization’s founder Shri. R Upendra Shetty and to recognizing the hard work and dedication in establishing the organization.

The celebration began with a blood donation camp and free medical camp that was held from 9:00am to 3:00pm. This event was organized in partnership with Narayana Health Centre, Narayana Nethralaya and Sparsh Hospital and saw a great turnout, with many members of the organization participating in the blood donation and taking advantage of the free medical check-ups. The camp was a great success as more than 100 people attended the camp and benefited from it. The blood donation camp demonstrated the organization’s commitment to serving the community by collecting around 100 units of blood.

An official program was organised in the evening. The eventt was graced by Mr. Chandrashekara Bhar C (Advocate and Social Service). The Chairman Mr. R Upendra Shetty, Secretary Pragathi Shetty, Principal- Universal School of Administration Dr. Saraswathi Kumbale, Principal- Universal School of Law Vishwas Puttaswamy, Principal- Competitive Wing Dr. Keshava Neera and Adminstrator Santhosh Shetty J also graced the occasion. The function began with the lighting of the ceremonial  lamp by chief guest Mr. Chandrashekara Bhar  and the founder Mr. R Upendra Shetty. Mr. Chandrashekara Bhar C with his exceptional achievements gave an extremely encouraging and motivational speech and thanked the Founder for creating an environment that provides an holistic education for students. The esteemed founder, Mr. R Upendra Shetty expressed his gratitude towards the staff & proud to see college coming such a long way since its inception.

It was then the moment to appreciate and encourage the budding talents and celebrate achievements of the achievers who have stood out and made us proud. This was followed by a prize distribution ceremony, where students were recognized for their achievements in various areas, including academics, sports, cultural activities, and community service.

The Kannada Department also released their journal Upi@50 on the occasion, which was an honor and tribute to the Founder, Shri. R Upendra Shetty who played a significant role in the founding and establishment of the Institution. This was followed by a Talk Show with the founder, where the founder shared his experiences and insights with the audience. The Talk Show was an opportunity for the audience to learn more about the founder and his vision for future.

The Cultural Committee organized a skit, dance and music performances.  The skit titled, ‘Vision of a Founder’ was an ode to all educationalists. It was directed by Ninasam Sadashiv Rai, a well known actor and director. The main performer was Bhoomi J from II PUC followed by Anandi Belagali from II PUC.  The skit highlighted the need for education and educationalists for the progress of the country.  Education without values makes an individual incomplete; an education system that imparts value education is seen as a harbinger of peace, stability and progress of a nation. The skit was followed by mesmerizing dance and music performances by the college cultural team. The dance was performed by Laavanya (II BA) and team. The music performance was by Darshan K (I BALLB) and team. The audience was entertained and enthralled by the various events.

It was a day of celebration, remembrance, and giving back, and it brought in the spirit of unity and shared purpose.
