Vision
The vision of the English department is to improve, promote and nurture the communication skills of the students in English language and literature. This vision encompasses our commitment to strengthening the communicative ability of our students who aspire for civil services and higher education. The department aims to impart knowledge and skills that enable students to engage with English texts – literary and non-literary, master the basics of English grammar, vocabulary and syntax.
Mission
M 1: To provide a comprehensive and rigorous academic program that equips students with a strong foundation in English language, literature, and related communication skills.
M 2: To expose and engage students with the study of English literature and specimens of non- literary English texts such as newspaper editorials, articles on tourism, culture, sports, politics, economics, history, environment etc; so as to acquire a knowledge of the nuances of both spoken and written English.

- Students produce or design or create texts in English (formal letters, brochures, posters, advertisements, pamphlets etc) for academic as well as professional communication.
- Students critique and argue for or against taking a stand on social/ political/ economic/ historical topics or issues.
- Students analyse and categorise topics and sub – topics in academic and general fields of study.
- Students demonstrate or solve problems or issues that they encounter in their subjects of study.
- Students explain/ describe/ interpret/ discuss and summarize topics or issues that they come across in their subjects of study.
Students recall/define and recognise ideas and concepts from their previous classes.
