“Unequal Access Within Reservations: The Sub-Categorisation Debate”

Date: 12th August 2025 | Time: 4:00 PM
Venue: Seminar Hall 1, Koluru Village Campus

As the national conversation around reservation deepens, the focus has shifted toward sub-categorisation within reserved communities—a topic of immense social and political significance. This seminar aims to unpack the critical question: Are all marginalized communities benefiting equally from affirmative action?

Esteemed Guests and Speakers:

Presided by: Mr. R. Upendra Shetty, Chairman, Universal Group of Institutions

Chief Guest & Inaugurator: Dr. L. Hanumanthaiah, Former Member of Rajya Sabha and an influential voice on social justice issues

Event Coordinator: Dr. Ramakrishna H K, Department of Kannada, Universal School of Administration

 Why This Event Matters:

The session will dive deep into the ongoing national debate on OBC sub-categorisation, address disparities within reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC), and explore whether a one-size-fits-all model truly serves the purpose of equity.

Our aim is to engage students, researchers, and faculty in a meaningful dialogue on constitutional values, inclusive growth, and the evolving frameworks of social justice in India.

This seminar is especially relevant for:

UPSC and KPSC aspirants preparing for GS Paper 2: Governance & Social Justice

Law and public policy students

Social science researchers and educators

Join the Dialogue. Shape the Future.

We invite students, faculty, and the wider academic community to attend, question, and contribute to this evolving discourse. Let’s critically examine the foundations of our policies and envision a truly inclusive and just India.
