FIRST KHELO INDIA TRIBAL GAMES BEGIN IN CHHATTISGARH
Why in the News?
● First Edition: The inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games commenced in Chhattisgarh.
● National Participation: More than 3,000 tribal athletes and officials from nearly 30 States and Union Territories are participating.
● Talent Promotion: The event aims to provide a national platform for tribal youth to showcase sporting talent while ensuring a pollution free environment at all venues.

KEY FEATURES OF THE GAMES
● Host Cities: The Games are being organised across Raipur, Jagdalpur and Ambikapur, with all venues having obtained necessary environmental clearances.
● Sports Disciplines: Competitions include football, hockey, archery, swimming, kabaddi, wrestling and mallakhamb.
● Athletics Venue: Bastar region is hosting athletics competitions during the event, following compliance with environmental impact assessment norms.
● Traditional Sports: Indigenous disciplines like mallakhamb have also been included.
● Multi-State Participation: Tribal athletes from across India are taking part in the competition.

● Sports Inclusion: Promote participation of tribal youth in organised national-level sports competitions.
● Talent Identification: Identify and nurture sporting talent from remote tribal regions.
