New CAPF Act Aims Uniform Personnel Administration System

Why in the News ?

The Government of India has notified the Central Armed Police Forces (General Administration) Act, 2026 after receiving Presidential assent, aiming to standardise recruitment and service conditions across CAPFs and strengthen administrative efficiency in internal security and border management.

Key Provisions of CAPF (General Administration) Act, 2026:

●  The Act establishes a uniform administrative framework for Group A General Duty officers across all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

●  Applies to major forces: CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB, ensuring standardisation across organisations.

●  Provides that 50% of posts will be filled through deputation from Indian Police Service (IPS) at the rank of Inspector General (IG).

●  Mandates that at least 67% of posts at Additional Director General (ADG) level will also be filled through IPS deputation.

●  Empowers the Central Government to frame rules regarding recruitment, promotions, and service conditions.

●  Overrides conflicting laws, judicial rulings, and administrative orders, ensuring legal clarity and uniformity.

●  Aims to streamline personnel management, career progression, and inter-force coordination.
