QUAD Strengthens Indo-Pacific Security And Strategic Cooperation Framework

Why in the News ?

The QUAD Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in New Delhi reviewed progress on Indo-Pacific cooperation and launched the Indo-Pacific Maritime Surveillance Collaboration. The grouping also reaffirmed its commitment to counter-terrorism, critical technologies, maritime security, and a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

Key Outcomes Of QUAD Foreign Ministers’ Meeting :

●  The QUAD nations reviewed regional and global developments concerning the Indo-Pacific region during the ministerial meeting in New Delhi.

●  The meeting reaffirmed the grouping’s commitment to a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.

●  Discussions focused on four major pillars — maritime security, economic prosperity, critical technologies, and humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR).

●  QUAD countries launched the Indo-Pacific Maritime Surveillance Collaboration to improve coordination in monitoring maritime activities.

●  The initiative aims to strengthen regional security, maritime domain awareness, and cooperation against illegal activities in strategic waters.
